If you’re anything like us, you believe that summer is just an excuse to drink Sangria. Though enough versions of sangria exist to allow one to savor these fruit and wine concoctions throughout the entire year, we’ve tried to do our very best to try to whittle down to just a few delicious options that are sure to refresh during the hotter days of the year using only boxed wines. We hope you enjoy responsibly.
- Our number one pick for a summer Sangria is of course the classic recipe. We like combining Black Box’s Merlot with 1 lemon, 1 orange and 1 lime cut into wedges. Add two Tbsp of sugar, a splash of orange juice or lemonade, a cup of strawberries, 2 shots of gin or triple sec and 4 cups of ginger ale or seltzer. Adjust to taste.
- A delightful twist on the traditional sangria is found with moscato by Pepperwood Grove. You’ll need 1 grapefruit, 2 oranges, 1 blood orange, and 2 clementines-all cut into slices. Add 2 Tbsp honey and ½ cup of orange liquor. Let sit for 30 minutes. Add 2 cups of chilled sparkling water, the juice of one lemon, 750ml of wine and ice. Refrigerate or serve immediately.
Try these two recipes out as a starter, we’ll be adding more sangria recipes as we find them, so feel free to let us know your favorite sangria recipes.
